Food for Thought
1. What is obesity and how has it affected your life or those you care about?

"Technically, a Body Mass Index of 30% body fat qualifies a person as obese, 25-29.9% as overweight and 18.5-24.9% as ideal body weight. Obesity is far more than a number on a chart though! It has physical, emotional, social and financial ramifications that impact individuals, families, communities and nations. Obesity is a private prison, a crippling burden, a tormentor, a terrible debt collector and an unnecessary epidemic of outrageous proportions! IT CAN BE REVERSED WITH A WHOLE PLANT FOOD DIET! I’m living proof. Please watch my video blog for more details." - Kathy Taylor

2. Knowing that the Diet Industry rakes in more than $50 billion per year, how do
you feel about Dr, Greger’s commitment to donating all of his profits to charity?

3. What makes Dr. Michael Greger qualified to write this book?

4. How are 240 calories of carrots different than 240 calories of Diet Coke and why
does it matter?

5. Dr. Greger asked us to avoid skipping to the end to find his tips and tricks for
faster weight loss but read the whole book first. What is your response to that?

6. Which do you feel caused the dramatic global rise in obesity starting in the
1970’s: less exercise, less willpower, fat genes, processed/packaged foods or
something else, and why?

7. How have government tax subsidies for sugar, corn, soybeans and meat affected
your life and community?

8. How many ways does marketing affect your daily food choices?

Praise for How Not to Diet from Dr. Dean Ornish
“Dr. Michael Greger is one of my heroes and continues to inspire me. Why? Because he embodies personal integrity, values facts, and is one of the kindest and smartest people I know. All of his lecture fees and book royalties go to charity, including his non-profit NutritionFacts.org, one of the most credible sources of science-based nutrition. How Not to Diet is one of the best books I’ve ever read on how to lose weight in sustainable ways that enhance health. Highly recommended!"
